I earned my master’s degree in Elementary Education from Shenandoah University and bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Childhood Studies from Christopher Newport University. After teaching with LCPS for 3 years, I decided to make the leap and stay home with my babies while they are young. My brother and I roamed the woods, building forts & tree houses, played in the creek catching all the critters we could. The farm next door is where we spent many summers in the cow pasture, being chased by ducks, gathering eggs, climbing in the corn bins & harvesting the fruits of our labor. Everything was a pet to us & I still enjoy my visits back home. I began my love of teaching in High School with the childcare program and graduating with highest honors, 1995. After high school, I went to work at Citikids, childcare center in Hagerstown MD & attending Hagerstown Community college. As I was working & putting myself through college, I was quickly promoted to Lead Teacher. Later I moved to WV and continued my education degree at Laurel Ridge, while working at Sharon's Centre for Higher Learning. Once I moved to VA, I then moved into the position of supervisor at Sharon's Centre. Once my son, Branson was born in 2009, I stepped down as supervisor and went back into the classroom at Sneakers Childcare Center, so I could be closer with my son as a single mom, which then turned into another management role. I remarried 8 yrs ago, which brought me to Round Hill, VA, to make me a mom of three boys. My twin, step sons Alex & Ryan and my son, Branson. While getting settled into Round Hill, I saw a need to meet others with the same love for outdoor programs. I began helping create a committee, Round Hill Outdoors, which lead into the birth of the AT Festival and discovering program of Tinkergarten, and eventually Peck of Dirt Inc. I attended the University of Virginia and received my bachelor’s in psychology and history. I then went on to earn a master’s in early childhood education from James Madison University. My husband and I have a wonderful son, Greyson, who is 2 years old. I am also a proud stepmother to Kaylee (10) and Ryan (8). After 13 years in public school education, I chose to stay home part-time with my family while teaching preschool. We love attending our home church, being outdoors, CrossFit, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys together.
